Studying this Healthcare Practice course at Kingston University will give you the practical skills and knowledge you need to lead positive change, improve practice and develop expertise in your clinical role.

Entry requirements

Qualifications needed for 2025/26

Healthcare Practice GradCert

  • Achieve a degree qualification or equivalent.
  • International qualifications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to ensure that the level of study has been adequately met. 

Healthcare Practice BSc (Hons) top-up

Higher Education Credits Required: 240

  • Achieve a Level 5 qualification with a total of 240 credits or equivalent. These include but are not limited to a Diploma of Higher Education, Foundation Degree.
  • International qualifications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to ensure that the level of study and the required depth of credits have been adequately met. 

Alternative entry pathway

We welcome applications from prospective students who meet all the following criteria:

  • Possess a Pre-Diploma qualification.
  • Have active registration with the NMC or HCPC.
  • Have a minimum of one year of practice or work experience in a UK healthcare setting. 

In addition to the above we will require you to provide the following three elements as part of the admissions process: 

  • Submit your NMC or HCPC registration PIN. Our admissions team will use this to verify your current registration status and confirm that you have successfully met the required standards. 
  • Provide a completed Healthcare Practice Document, which aligns with the national QAA descriptors for a higher education qualification at Level 5 on the FHEQ (2024). After you have applied, we will provide you with the required document and offer support to help you complete it. This document will allow you to showcase your abilities in the following key areas:
  • Demonstrating how you have utilised a range of established techniques to initiate and undertake critical analysis of information and propose solutions to problems identified through that analysis. 
  • Effectively communicating information, arguments, and analyses in various formats to both specialist and non-specialist audiences, while deploying key disciplinary techniques effectively. 
  • Undertaking further training, developing existing skills, and acquiring new competencies to enable you to take on significant responsibilities within organisations.
  • Provide evidence of your academic skills by meeting one of the following criteria:
  • Submitting proof of a previously completed academic module at Level 5 or higher.
    or
  • Successfully completing Kingston University's Academic Skills for Healthcare Professionals module at Level 5 or Academic Skills for Healthcare Professionals module at Level 6.

Workforce Development (CPD): Free-standing modules

Applicants who meet the entry requirements for the BSc Healthcare Practice but prefer not to enrol in the full degree can opt to study individual free-standing modules from the course, up to a maximum of 60 credits. To apply for these standalone modules, please visit our Workforce Development website.

Alternative entry pathway

Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements for the BSc Healthcare Practice programme but wish to enrol in one or more standalone modules will be required to complete an essay as part of the application process. The essay topic, along with detailed instructions and guidelines, will be provided after your application is submitted.
