• All NHS employees are eligible as long as they have signed approval from their line manager.
• Practitioners working in GP practices employed by the practice and not by the NHS, for example practice nurses, are eligible.
• Pharmacists employed outside of a hospital setting who are either self-employed or are employed by a private company are only eligible when they are working as part of a GP practice.
• Practitioners working in the private sector (such as at the Spire, Nuffield etc) providing services for the NHS and are taking pre-reg students on placement are only eligible for accessing mentor/SLiP programmes.
• Practitioners working for a hospice providing services for the NHS and taking pre-reg students on placement are only eligible for accessing mentor/SLiP programmes

Programme Overview
The Pharmacy Practice PGDip helps registered pharmacists working in community, primary or secondary care practice develop the knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of developments in pharmacy practice.
This programme will equip you to provide pharmaceutical care to patients, manage your personal and professional development and introduce new services to the workplace.
You'll gain an in-depth understanding of techniques for evaluating and managing the risk associated with prescribing, supplying and administering medicines to ensure patient safety.
You will also complete the prescribing module which will help you to advance your practice by developing your clinical and prescribing skills. The resulting qualification will allow you to apply to be annotated as an independent and supplementary prescriber with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Our focus on work-based learning and assessment links your study directly to your practice, whilst flexible modules allow you to develop skills in the areas of practice best for you.

Course content
This programme allows you to develop as a flexible practitioner, according to specific interests and workplace opportunities. You'll also have the support needed to meet GPhC requirements for recording CPD.
You'll be studying in a research-based learning environment. Our high-quality research informs national and international policy and practice to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines. In particular, our work on medicines information for patients and our research into reducing medication errors and improving safety in care homes have had a significant impact on policy and practice.

Learning and teaching
You'll learn through study days, e-learning and work-based learning. Our teaching methods support flexible, work-based learning and develop skills for lifelong learning. Teachers and facilitators draw on a range of expertise in education, clinical practice and research. Many of the optional modules are multi-disciplinary.
You'll have access to modern School of Healthcare facilities.Assessment
Assessments are mainly written, work-based assignments and are designed to support day-to-day practice.

Entry requirements
- Normally achieved a recognised HEI Honours degree in Pharmacy or equivalent with at least a 2:1 classification- A pharmacist with current registration with the GPhC or Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (GPhC)- Access to appropriate pharmacy practice to allow the undertaking of work-based assignments- Appointment of an agreed work-based tutor and support from a work-based manager- Applicants whose first language is not English must have achieved a score of at least 7 in the IELTS
Opportunities for accreditation of prior certificate learning (APCL) and/or accreditation of prior experiential learning (APEL) is provided by the School's Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme

English language requirements
IELTS 7.0 overall. For other English qualifications, read English language equivalent qualifications.
