About Mathematical Physics, BSc - at University of Nottingham

Course overview

We're home to Nobel Prize-winning research and the popular Sixty Symbols YouTube channel. Ever since Newton’s theories of motion and gravity, physics and mathematics have been interlinked. You'll use advanced mathematics to understand how our universe works.

The mathematical physics degree offers a thorough education in theoretical physics and associated mathematical topics. You'll study core modules such as Advanced Quantum Theory.

We tailor elements from single honours courses in physics and in mathematics to give you a specialist understanding of this interdisciplinary subject. Optional modules such as Differential Geometry and Black Holes will give you a specialist understanding of mathematical physics.

Our practical learning will teach you the mathematical, computational and problem-solving skills for your future career. Our students go on to work in industries such as engineering, aerospace, IT, and finance.
