Masters in China

Universities in China offer a diverse range of master’s degrees through both universities and other specialised schools. These institutions are recognised for their academic and research programs, providing postgraduate qualifications such as Master of Science (MSc), Master of Arts (MA), Master of Research (MRes), and Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Duration

A master’s degree in China typically takes one to two years when studied full-time. Some specialised programs, particularly those involving research or internships, may take longer than this to complete.

Language of Teaching

Although many master’s programs are offered in English to cater to international students, a significant number still require some proficiency in Chinese. The availability of English-taught programs has been increasing, which reflects China’s efforts to internationalise its higher education sector.

How to Apply for a Masters Degree in China

International students can apply directly to their preferred Chinese university. The application process usually involves submitting a CV or resume, academic transcripts, a personal statement, and letters of recommendation.

Proof of language proficiency is essential. For English-taught courses, exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge exams are accepted, while proficiency in Chinese can be demonstrated through tests like the HSK. Academic requirements might include a relevant bachelor’s degree and possibly an examination like the GRE or GMAT, depending on the program.

Postgraduate Tuition Fees for International Students

Tuition fees for international students in China are quite competitive. They vary widely depending on the institution but generally range from CNY 30,000 to CNY 120,000 per year. Scholarships and financial aids are available for international students and can significantly reduce the cost of studying and living in China.
