About Chemistry, BSc (Hons) - at Kingston University London

Chemistry affects every aspect of our lives, from clothing to the medicines that help millions of people. It plays an integral part in solving global challenges, such as food security, plastic pollution, developing alternative energies, and synthesising new medicines and materials.

The Chemistry BSc (Hons) degree course at Kingston provides knowledge and skills relevant to industry, research and teaching. You'll gain practical skills in our laboratories, broaden your knowledge of environmental chemistry, and develop the academic and professional skills valued by employers.

You will have your own individual final year project which enables you to investigate a chosen area in depth.

We have recently updated our modules to enhance student-centred teaching and align course content with industry needs, helping you become a future-proof graduate.

Entry requirements

Qualifications needed for 2025/26

For BSc (Hons):

A Levels, including Chemistry with a minimum of Grade C. Alternatively, a BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science (Chemistry) with merits in the following units:

  • Unit 1 – "Principles and Applications in Science 1"
  • Unit 5 – "Principles and Applications in Science 2"
  • Unit 13 – "Applications of Inorganic Chemistry"
  • Unit 14 – "Applications of Organic Chemistry" 

Or a Merit in T-Level science, including a minimum of a B in the Core component and a merit in the Occupational Specialism, either in laboratory sciences or metrology sciences.

GCSE Mathematics at grade C/4 or above, or a recognised equivalent, is also required.

Alternatively, we will consider a range of Level 3 qualifications, such as an Access Course in a relevant science subject. This will need to have been passed with 112 UCAS points, including 18 level 3 credits in Chemistry, with minimum of 9 L3 credits at Distinction and 9 L3 credits at Merit, and 15 level 3 credits in Biology at Merit. Applications from those who have undertaken a Science foundation year will also be considered.

For BSc (Hons) with Foundation Year:

  • UCAS tariff points: 64
