Student

Albina Sergiyenko (LLB Law with Professional Placement)

“One of the things I really enjoy about my course is how it’s structured. We have a lot of interactive lessons like seminars and workshops instead of just lectures every day. This makes the learning process more engaging and helps us understand the material better.  I’m already excited about my third year because I’ll be doing a placement year. We’ve had lots of workshops on placement years and employability, which have been incredibly useful for developing my job hunting and application skills and understanding the kind of law firm I’d like to work at.”

Student

Erica, from the Philippines, studying LLM Law

“I am currently the Vice President of the Filipino Society and I am proud that I am able to represent my background and heritage at the University. Exeter offers numerous opportunities for us to share our culture, such as the popular Spring Festival celebrations and the ASEAN Spring Ball, which I believe is incredibly important. There is a strong sense of community at Exeter and it is something I truly appreciate while being here.”

“In my first year I lived on campus and shared a flat with six people. I wasn't extremely keen on the nightlife scene so I was a bit worried about what my new flatmates would be like in terms of partying/drinking. Luckily though, my accommodation was a ‘quiet flat’ and a lot of us had similar personalities, which allowed me to settle in quickly and feel more at ease. My entire block only consisted of six flats and we were all really sociable and ended up being very close, and I am still friends with a lot of them now.”

Matt Whitley, Business and Environment student from the UK

Living in Cornwall is an absolute dream. You have outstanding beauty on your doorstep and some of the best beaches in the UK. There is also an amazing heritage and culture in Cornwall. The locals are supportive and passionate about Cornwall. If you show your passion, they can be quite nice to you. At the Penryn Campus, you combine learning in a space of outstanding beauty with opportunities you wouldn’t get at other universities such as sailing and surfing. It is a match made in heaven. It attracts a lot of climate positive, nature focused and outdoorsy people. Growing up in South Manchester, I never really felt like I fitted in. In Cornwall I have found like-minded students from every walk of life that are passionate about the same things.
